This installation created with Jamie Allen, was commissioned by transmediale is the result of a three months residency at the Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik (ZK/U). As part of the residency, several workshops where held across Berlin leading to the production of the final piece exhibited in the main hall of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) during the 2014 edition of the festival.
A thicket of altered and unaltered metrological survey equipment is the principle element of CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE, standing aloft in the colossal shell of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW), offering visitors precise perspectives on questionable data, through numerous viewfinders and reference markers placed in the space. The survey allows direct total observation of signals and fluctuations occurring during the festival, revealing the materials and systems that allow media arts, media artists, festivals and venues to exist and persist.
